Campervan overnight park-up

Here at Heather Isle Adventures we understand the desire to travel around these beautiful islands in a van, not always wanting to have to plan stops or book into campsites in advance. Before we bought our house here we spent many months doing just that. However, we also understand that at times the islands get very busy, and that some tourists park up in places that are not appropriate, which can lead to ill-feeling.

We have decided to open up the top drive on our property to campervans wanting a quiet spot to park up. There is space for one van (maybe two if you are good friends), and we are a two minute drive / 10 minute walk from Shawbost beach. There is a picnic bench and fire pit for your use, outdoor water tap and possibly free eggs (depending on hen co-operation). Don’t forget we also have bikes and paddleboards for hire.

The charge is £10 per night . You can turn up and pay at the honesty box by cash or card - the pitch is available unless the rope is across. Just send a message after you have parked up so we know the pitch is taken and you have paid. If you are the organised type and want to book ahead you can also do this by messaging or ringing us.

The space is not suitable for large motorhomes as the access is quite tight. We would recommend reversing your campervan in. The photos show our VW Crafter parked up so you have an idea of the size of the pitch. Please only park on the gravel as the surrounding ground is soft and not suitable for driving or turning on. We have only just put the drive in, so some areas are a bit bare while the grass grows back.

This is not a site with facilities - you will need to be in a self-contained van, and take all rubbish including toilet waste with you. We do not have a chemical disposal point. However we can offer peace of mind, knowing you will not be in anyone’s way, and exclusive use of this spot. If you need anything knock on the door, or message us, if not we will leave you alone.

Dogs are welcome but MUST be on a lead or tied up at all times due to livestock and a certain Jack Russell / Patterdale Terrier cross called Gypsy who is reactive with other dogs. We can provide a ground tether and a long lead if you need. Please also clean up after your dog.

We are in South Shawbost, No 43. HS2 9BJ. Two minutes from the Norse Mill and the beach. What Three Words is ///tactical.triathlon.rewarding
